Strove Tuesday and Mardi gras are often referred to as 'Fat Tuesday" . This marks the last day of feasting and partying before Lent.  The next day is Ash Wednesday and the Lenten season begins.  We as Christians partake of this by having ashes applied to our foreheads in the form of a cross with the words 'Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return'.
