Who We Are

Peace is a Lutheran Church established in North Portland in 1892.  We are Christians that believe in the teachings of Martin Luther, The Holy Trinity, The Holy Bible and the sacrament of Holy Communion.  We believe that  Jesus died on the cross for us and therefore through God's grace we are saved.

We are a body of Christians working together to help bring people to Christ through his teachings,  We believe and confess the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Lords prayer. We follow the teaching of the Martin Luther and the Small Catechism  We come together in prayer and pray for our broken world, and our broken selves.

Lenten Prayer

Forgive those things we have done

Which have caused you sadness, and those things we should have done

that would have brought you joy. In both we have failed ourselves and you.

Bring us back to that place where our journey began, when we said that we would follow

the way that you first trod. Lead us to the cross

and meet us there

Jesus, our Lord,

our light, our life, our love.

Holy Communion

for the forgiveness of sin

The sacrament are pointed out by the words,

given and shed for you for the remission of sins.                These words assure us that in the sacrament we receive forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation. For where there is forgiveness of sins, there is also life and salvation.

Holy Communion

We are to receive these gifts of bread and wine, of Christ's body and blood, in faith, trusting that in this meal our Lord comes to us, forgives us our sins, renews us in faith and leads us into new life.

Weekly communion is offered to all who believe and are seeking forgiveness.
